Timber Floor Restoration
If you require the best floor sanding and polishing services throughout Sydney, contact us to discuss all your floor sanding and timber floor finishing options that suit your style, budget and time frame. Our timber floor restoration process is outlined in simple steps below. Restoring wood floors is our specialty, so why don’t you find out what we can do for you.
Step 1.
The floor sanding process always begins with a bang. All nails in the tongue and groove boards will be punched down below the surface of the wooden floorboard. If the timber floor has an existing coating, a coarser grade of sandpaper will be used to start with. After the initial floor sand, the punched holes will be filled with a matching coloured floor filler.
Our sanding process has been improved upon and practiced until it is perfect. Depending on the condition of your floor, we will start with a coarse abrasive. This will usually clean most of the paint and stains, working through the different sandpaper grits in order to get a perfectly sanded floor.
Step 2.
We will gradually work our way up from 40 to 60 and finally to the 80-grit paper. In between each change of grit size, we clean the floor in order to prevent any scratches. Any timber floor repairs, and floorboard replacement will be undertaken at this time.
The timber floor will be progressively sanded with finer grades of sandpaper until your timber floorboards are smooth and ready for the coating to be applied.
Blue Magic Services uses a Canadian Galaxy Drum floor sanding machine, considered to be one of the best in the Timber Flooring Industry.
Step 3.
Once the sanding process is completed, the first coat of timber floor finish is applied and allowed to dry overnight.
The floor is then finely sanded with a specialist buffing machine, before subsequent floor coatings are applied. Three layers of floor finish are generally applied to complete the floor polishing process. Floor sanding and polishing usually takes between 3 to 4 days to be completed.
Blue Magic Services offers a selection of popular, gloss, satin and mat timber floor finishes, including solvent-based polyurethane, environmentally friendly water-based floor finishes and traditional oil-based finishes.
